i totally agree with manan's comments. Song's composition and lyrics being excellent is one thing… hats off to Pritam and Irshad for that. Singer's performance is different matter altogether. Atif doesn't sound more than a stammering goat in all of his songs including this one also. He is a third grade singer if at all he can be categorized as a singer. Had it not been due to the highly sophisticated recording facilities available nowadays he would have reached nowhere atleast in the music world. Catch -22 question is why he gets opportunity ? Answer is that the public always craves for something different. Different doesn't always mean quality good… Till the time this faltu singer gets encouragement from we listeners he will get many more opportunities to spoil such beautiful songs !!!
I say he actually spoilt this such a beautiful song (superb lyrics and music)… just listen to Soham, Rana Mazumdar and Ashish Pandit's version of this song and you will forget Atif the biggest asshole of the music world today…

As far as versatility is concerned, I think Atif is nowhere near Kailash Kher. But there are certain songs for which you like a particular voice and I think for this song, Atif’s voice fits better than Kailash. That said, there are still some classical and difficult songs which I don’t think will be easy for Atif to sing or for that matter he will be comfortable with.
